Transect + Streetscape Design
Simon Youngleson Architects has a substantial library of transect streetscape sections and generic plans for buildings typically located in villages, including commercial, community and residential buildings.
We believe great places are defined by great streets, so each village requires well-designed movement corridors that promote walkability and ensure a pleasant pedestrian environment. Furthermore, a village needs streets that successfully integrate the built form of the private domain with the broader streetscape environment, which is constantly changing along the length of the transect. Transect elevations help us understand and communicate the changing nature of this condition, which is why our streetscape and transect library is so valuable to the built form vision process. Our library inspires and informs our visions for new village communities, enabling us to consider streetscape design and density from the central core of a village to its outer fringe.
